The small coastal village of La Caleta is part of the municipal district of Adeje, approximately 25km or 15 miles west of the Reina Sofia International Airport and is becoming a very prestigious and much sought after location. Looking at a map of the west coast of Tenerife, it is very easy to miss the town altogether. Although if you look closely enough you will find it hidden away between the resorts of Playa Paraiso and the more infamous Playa de Las Americas.
The village of La Caleta is famous for many things, fishing is a big part of the income for this area and La Caleta is renowned for its clams and its many fish restaurants which overlook the equally famous traditional harbour.
La Caleta is one of Tenerife’s more quiet resorts. This beautiful village is the place to come if you want to unwind in a peaceful atmosphere. The local beach is quite small and quite stony. Most visitors take a towel and sunbathe on the rocks near the harbour, but if you don’t fancy that La Caleta is only a 15 minute walk away from the famous Bahia Del Duque, with its beautiful beaches and fabulous designer shops.
La Caleta boasts some of the most beautiful landscapes in the Canary Islands and there is a stunning beachfront promenade that stretches all the way from La Caleta, past Del Duque, Torviscas, Playa De Las Americas and right along to Los Cristianos, a most enjoyable walk. For the golf enthusiast the 27 hole, Adeje Golf Course, home of the 2003 Spanish Open is only 1 km away from La Caleta. If you want to find more shopping and entertainment, Fañabé and Puerto Colón are easily accessible, or the bustling resort of Playa de Las Americas is only a 10 minute drive away.
